About NeuMamas®
What is NeuMamas® and what is the NeuMamas® Approach?
NeuMamas® is a lifestyle brand advocating the concept of community self-care for women™ from preconception through postpartum and beyond.
The NeuMamas® approach advocates community self-care practices focused on finding rhythm. We believe that we all have our own unique mama beat that becomes the rhythm of our days, and when we come together, the collective playlist of our community.
We’re committed to contributing to our community in a way that leverages our individual privileges while meeting our personal needs. We trust that our community will have our back when we need support, education, and human presence.
Our approach is rooted in eight self-care practices – nourish, express, unplug, meditate, appreciate, move, ask, and sleep.

How is the NeuMamas® Approach different from other self-care approaches?
Most wellness programs advocate solo self-care practices focused on finding balance. This approach is flawed since balance in life as we know it doesn’t exist. Not to mention, humans thrive on communication, connection, and compassion.

Who is the NeuMamas® Approach for?
The NeuMamas® Approach is for women in all seasons of life from preconception through postpartum and beyond. It's a roadmap that can be adapted to meet you where you are on your journey. It takes into consideration your unique lifestyle, season, budget, and goals. The NeuMamas ® Approach is not prescriptive, the eight self-care practices are open for individual interpretation. For example, Nourish - nourish your mind with knowledge, your body with whole food, and your soul with purpose can be translated to mean.....
Reading a book, enjoying a green smoothie, and volunteering at a local non-profit.
Or
Listening to a podcast, enjoying a piece of wild caught Alaskan salmon with greens, and volunteering for a mission trip in Haiti.
There are so many opportunities to overcomplicate life and Abby's intention with the NeuMamas® Approach is to keep it simple and individual. It doesn't matter what your sister, neighbor, co-worker, or social media influencer is doing - do you, be you, own your self-care. The community aspect of the approach is geared toward accountability, advocacy, and accessibility, not approval.

How often do I need to practice the NeuMamas® Approach to feel and see a difference?
The NeuMamas® Approach is designed as a daily self-care practice that can last anywhere from minutes to hours. Each of the eight self-care practices can be experienced in the time that you have allotted. There is no particular order in which you need to do the eight self-care practices and there is no set timeframe. Abby designed the NeuMamas® Approach to be affordable, accessible, and adaptable to meet you where you're at on your journey. It takes into consideration your unique lifestyle, season, budget, and goals. To give you a few examples.
Nourish - Eating three whole food meals a day, reading a chapter from a book each night, and volunteering once a month at a local charitable organization of your choice.
Express - Journaling for five minutes every morning, breastfeeding on demand or not at all, and sharing your feelings with you partner in an intimate moment each night.
Unplug - Turning off your technology while you spend time with your little ones outdoors taking in the sounds of nature.
Meditate - Finding five quiet minutes while your little one naps to ground yourself and reflect on your day.
Appreciate - Telling your partner the minute you wake up one quality that you appreciate about them.
Move - Taking a walk around the block, chasing your little ones around the backyard, or simply using good posture when you're unloading the dishwasher.
Ask - Confidently asking your employer to discuss your maternity leave, unapologetically asking your partner for additional help around the house, or assertively asking your doctor about your healthcare options.
Sleep - Going to bed 30 minutes earlier every night, incorporating a sleep ritual, or taking a midday nap.
The NeuMamas ® Approach is not prescriptive, the eight self-care practices are open for individual interpretation. Abby suggests that for one week you keep track of your days from the moment you wake up until the moment you go to sleep. How are you spending your time? Once you have an idea of how you're spending your time you'll be able to manage it.
All of the activities throughout your day from getting ready for work, preparing meals for your family, and mindlessly scrolling Instagram™ are what we like to call mama beats. Not all mama beats are created equal and some need to go. Once you eliminate the destructive mama beats, you can start to establish your rhythm, and when you find your groove you'll want to hit replay every day.
